Zeroing in on the 6 unbeaten teams through 8 weeks of the CFB campaign

Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is one of the best wideouts in the country this season.

The year 2025 has been full of pleasant surprises in college football. Vanderbilt is 6-1 with ranked wins over South Carolina and LSU. The Commodores are currently the #10 team in the country. Virginia and Texas Tech are also both 6-1, with both schools being ranked in the top 16 of the latest Associated Press poll. Miami appears to be all the way back, even after they lost at home to Louisville on Friday night. Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels are 6-1, ranked #8 in the nation and should be a threat to win the SEC all year.

While those five teams are all having nice seasons, they all have one loss on their 2025 ledger. There are six FBS teams that are still undefeated through 8 weeks of play this season. Some of these teams will be a surprise, while others will not. In this article, I’ll go over the best remaining undefeated teams in college football while also handicapping their chances to make it to the 12-team College Football Playoff in December.
